Most Biomedical Engineers Focus on the Wrong Skills — Here’s What Companies Actually Want
I went through some of the top 20-30 companies. I went through ~400 job descriptions and used chatGPT to extract the skills that the companies are looking for. Here is a tree map of the skills that a lot of companies are looking for.
This interactive treemap shows what skills companies are looking for and tried to go for the top 40 skills. The interesting thing was that a lot of them wanted, ISO, FDA, microsoft office, and testing experience
I then broke down the tree map by company, so you can look at what each company wants. As I do more companies the list will grow larger
It’s weird to me that programming and CAD are much smaller portions. Ignoring the microsoft office, perhaps this points to a slightly different approach I thought BMeds would be useful for. Almost sounds more towards validation and Quality more than anything.
The plot isn’t perfect as I work out the kinks, but it’s interesting none the less.
